Hawk’s Shirt of the Day 2014-03-09

I wrote code so you don't have to.

I wrote code so you don’t have to.

True.  It was tough, but I did it.  Now, you don’t have to.

You’re welcome.

Yet another awesome Thinkgeek shirt!  Unfortunately, I don’t find it on their site.

Star Wars escape death star 8-bit

There is so much going on in this Star Wars Death Star hanger escape scene, in 8-bit style!  Very creative.

Hawk’s Shirt of the Day 2014-03-06

Not here to make friends.

Not here to make friends.

I thought this was funny, ’cause I’m often interested in making new friends.  I wore it to work (back when I worked in an office) and it always got a laugh.

Another awesome Thinkgeek shirt.  If it’s still available, it’d be here:  http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/e716/

Hawk’s Shirt of the Day 2014-03-03

What I really need are minions.

What I really need are minions.

YES!  Minions ARE what I really need!  Just imagine… I’d already own the world if I had minions!

I don’t remember how it got started, but I got the “Evil Genius” title some time ago, at a place where I used to work.  One of the guys there even called me, “Evil” as my first name (he became my Evil Minion #1).  So this shirt just seemed to fit perfectly!

Laser Research

Laser Research

Yep, my cat is intensely interested in laser research.  And I help him out on his journey of scientific discovery.  He tackles the subject like nothing you’ve ever seen.  He gets lots of exercise, too.  Scientific research can be very exhausting.

This seems to be part of a theme from Thinkgeek.  Check out the one on String Theory Research.

If it’s still available, it’d be here:  http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/1640/

Shut Up, Who Cares, Sick of Graphs

Shut Up, Who Cares, Sick of Graphs

Oh yes, I’m sick of graphs, especially when I have to make them.  I used to work for an organization where I had to make graphs to represent my “production”.  So sick of graphs.

I saw this shirt on Topatoco.com, called “Grapathy Shirt”, and I thought, “YES!”  If it’s still available, it’d be here:  http://www.topatoco.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PFSC-GRAPATHY&Store_Code=TO

Let me drop everything and work on your problem

Sometimes… I want to say something like this to my boss.  But then I remember that I haven’t won the lottery yet (any week now!).

Keep out of Direct Sunlight

Keep out of Direct Sunlight

Yes!  I’m the kind of geek who lives inside his geek cave, far from any direct sunlight whatsoever.  Therefore, this shirt definitely applies.

Seems like this is one of the first Thinkgeek shirts I ever got.  If it’s still available, it’d be here: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/7029/

SAME Recordings

SAME Recordings

I listen to SAME Radio almost every day.  Steve Anderson & Chris Breame focus on the best new and forthcoming uplifting trance & progressive.  I love it!

So, naturally, I had to get the shirt.  Sadly, the online store which sold it to me no longer stocks shirts of any kind.  Booo!

Steve and Chris are both fun and creative guys.  Examples:

From Ep 252, Steve: “Let me check the menu and itinerary.  We have… Progressive Goodness, tick. Tremendous Tranceness, also tick. Scottish Accent thrown in for good measure… Yep, we’re all sorted and ready to go!”

From virtually any episode hosted by Chris:  “And now here’s a track mixed by MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!”  (Chris is the type to never let an opportunity for shameless self-promotion go to waste.)

U.S. Bank doesn’t want my business

U.S. Bank does not want my business.

U.S. Bank does not want my business.

I recently got a letter from U.S. Bank saying they don’t want my business.  They did not specify a reason.  Click the image for a full-res readable version.

Obviously, I do not understand what’s going on here, but this is not the first time.  I tried to set up an account with NetBank some time ago and they returned my deposit almost instantly saying, “We don’t want your business.”  When I called up to ask why, they would not tell me.  I still don’t know why.

<shrug>?

Last month, the manager of my local U.S. Bank branch called me up and grilled me for about a half hour on every aspect of my life.  She asked me questions like, “What are all these wire transfers about?”  “Where did they come from?”  “Why are you transferring money into four different savings accounts?”  “What are you spending your money on?”  “Do you have an account with any other banks?”  “I see you withdrew some cash here on this date, what did you use that for?” “I see you have labels on your savings accounts such as ‘car’, what do these labels mean?”

Has this happened to anyone else?

Hawk’s Shirt of the Day 2014-02-23

I'm always right because shut up.

I’m always right because shut up.

I used to work with a guy (hey Chris!) who had the perfect come-back to an obviously stupid question.  He’d ask something like, “Why is this so hard?” or “Why is this not working?”  He was talking about something technical, usually programming PHP.  I’d reply with the obvious right thing, such as, “Why don’t you just use the built-in function to do that?”

His reply, “Because shut up!”

Perfect!

So when I saw this shirt in a catalog somewhere, I just had to get it!

Hawk’s Shirt of the Day 2014-02-22

Aperture Labs orange test subject

We can call this color, “Aperture Labs Test Subject Orange”.  The game: Portal, by Valve Corporation.

The Aperture Labs logo is on the back:

Aperture Labs orange test subject back

I think I got it from Thinkgeek, but I can’t find it there.

Remember: the cake is a lie.

My other Aperture Labs shirt.

Spiderman red & blue

I’m a fan of Spiderman.  This is a shirt with the red design on both the front and back, and the blue along the sides.  Don’t remember where I got it.  It was probably one of those impulse buys as I was wandering through a store.

When in doubt,
Try another hole.

Yes, when in doubt, you might consider trying another hole.

One of the geekiest things I can do is identify all of those ports.  😐

This is a very old (yet still awesome) Thinkgeek shirt.  If it’s still available, it’d be here: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/a651/
