Neverlate 7-Day Alarm Clock

I got a Neverlate 7-Day Alarm Clock a month or so ago. I got it from [ThinkGeek](http://www.thinkgeek.com/). Just click and search for ‘neverlate’.

I just love this little alarm clock! It’s the most perfect alarm clock I’ve ever owned. I only say this because I can’t think of anything that it doesn’t do that I want it to do. Well, there is one small thing, but I’ll mention that later. Now, on with the pics:

This is the front. It’s got a green back-lit LED display. You can see me holding it so you can get an idea of it’s size; it’s pretty small. A nice feature of the back-lighting is that it’s only fully bright when there is activity. Otherwise, it’s half-dimmed and soft. Those two knobs on the front are the tuning and the volume for the radio. The radio’s speakers kinda “vent” out the bottom. Sounds pretty good, actually. I mean, for a clock radio.

In the back there’s a slot for a 9-volt backup battery. We had a power failure here about three weeks ago. The power was out for over two hours. But this clock never even noticed. When I got back, I didn’t even have to set it back up again. It even had the right time.

Most of the controls are on the top. This is a close-up of the top and all the buttons and knobs ‘n stuff. This thing is easy to use, easy to set, easy to turn off, easy to snooze, etc. And here’s another nice feature: nap. It’s got a nap timer, which basically means a countdown timer with an alarm. You see that little black ring around the top knob? That’s how you set the alarms and timers and such. It’s a sliding ring which makes loud clicking sounds when you turn it. The main knob on top is for setting the modes and for setting each individual alarm.

Another nice feature is the snooze button on the front-top. It’s a nice, big, tough snooze button so you can whack it hard trying to get the dang thing to shut the hell up so you can get that additional vital 15 minutes of precious sleep. BUT, it’s also a preview button! If you hit this button when the alarm is not going off, the thing will give you the time and day of the _next_ alarm. So if you hit it when you’re going to bed @ 10pm, and you’ve got the alarm set for tomorrow at 6:30am, it’ll display the day, the time, and “REV”,which means review, I guess. So there’s never any doubt as to when it’s going to go off next. There may be disdain, but never doubt.

The best feature is it’s 7 independant alarms, one for each day of the week. And they all can be either on or off. And they all can be for any time. I got this because I was a workin’ stiff but good. I worked for Samy’s Camera as their WebMaster. I was also part of MIS doing Linux type stuff. So I figured that this alarm clock would be great because I got in the habit of sleeping in on the weekends. Who doesn’t, right?

The alarm clock arrived the day the entire web department got laid off. How’s that for irony? Yup, all both of us were laid off because the man decided to out-source the entire thing.

But still, I love this alarm clock! This little guy does it all! Oh yeah, except for one thing: the buzzer doesn’t have a volume control. Yup, that’s all I was wanting. The volume control on the front is for the radio only. Trust me, I tried it. It has no effect on the buzzer. Or should I call it a beeper? It’s more of a BEEP-BEEP-BEEP type thing.

Anyway, that’s it. I love it, and I’m going to take a sledgehammer to my old alarm clock.

    Hi Hawk,

Thanks for the thoughtful review of the Neverlate. I’m thrilled you are enjoying it so much. Your comment about adjustable buzzer alarm volume is noted and will be added (along with a wealth of other customizable options) in the next version of the product which we hope to have out around mid next year.

    Kind regards,
