Movie Theater Auditorium Ads
I went to see a movie last night (more on that later) and was assaulted by animated advertisements before the show.
AMC started this trend with a slide projector show. You’d sit there and wait for the movie to begin, and watch ads. I didn’t pay to see these ads. I paid for a movie.
I liked Mann Theaters because they DID NOT do this. No longer; the Mann’s Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood plays animated ads with sound while you’re waiting for the movie to begin. The image is good, it must be an extremely hi-quality hi-def projector, but still… I didn’t pay to see these ads. It’s annoying.
I whipped out my ChessMate game in my phone and played Chess until the movie started.
If I’m going to spend the bucks and take the time to go see a movie in a theater, I DO *NOT* want to see ads before the movie begins. This is cheap and I feel betrayed somewhat.
So far, the ArcLight is sill good. They seem to be doing things right, including assigned seating for all shows so you don’t have to scramble for a seat.
