trading time for money

Dang, I had forgotten how much I dislike being a workin’ stiff!

I’m used to going to bed around 1 or 2am. Last week and this week, I’ve been trying to get to sleep around 10pm.

“But Hawk,” you ask, “why would you go to bed so dang early?!?”

I understand your concern, and the reason is simple: I need to wake up early. Early for me used to be 9am. My alarm clock goes off at 7am and lemme tell ya… I don’t like it one bit!

“But Hawk,” you ask, “why would you ever want to wake up at such an unreasonably insane hour of the morn?”

I understand your concern, and the reason is simple: I’m helping out a friend with some programming work, and he’s a regular workin’ stiff who shows up at work bright and early at 9am. Therefore, I’ve got to do the same.

But in my spare time (what little of it there is left), I’m still building my other biz, and as soon as I reach financial freedom, me and my alarm clock are going to have a party out back.

I may even get someone to video it. I’ll be walking out to an area where there are no small animals or children nearby, alarm clock hanging by it’s power cord in one hand, my hammer in the other. Imagine theme music to “Green Mile”, or something.

The alarm clock will be carefully set down on the ground; goggles on; hammer will rise and pause for one long dramatic moment… then WHAM! Que the theme music to “Pirates of the Caribbean” during a sword fight. Up and down the hammer will go, bits and pieces of the alarm clock will fly in all directions. Large grin will appear on my face.

(in Homer voice) MMMmmmmmmm… alarm clock donut…

After that, I may just run over some of the pieces with my motorcycle a few times. Just for good measure. MMmmmm… Large grin on my face…

Anyway… so that’s basically it: I don’t like getting up early in the morning. Hell, I don’t even like getting up late in the morning. I’m a night bird. I can hack, program, think, groove, and generally have a good time at night, more so than in the day (usually).

MMMmmmmmmm… alarm clock donut…
